  • Urgent update from SEC President

Announced by Ugochukwu Ogbonna on Mar 27 2020

    Dear Colleagues,

    Christian greetings.

These are indeed challenging times that we are facing as ministers and workers within the South England Conference.  The spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus has brought the entire world to a standstill.  A number of organizations will be adversely affected because of this virus.  Jobs will be lost and people’s livelihood will be at risk.

As a church, we are also impacted by the virus.  We are dependent on the generosity of our members to return tithes in order for the church to function.  Because of the lockdown, members are not able to return tithe in the usual way during church services.  We have given at least 6 options where members can give electronically.  However, we are aware that some of our faithful senior members may not be computer literate and as a result the returning of the tithe may become a challenge.

Our conference is in a crisis due to cash flow.  We are currently looking into the provisions spelt out in the Chancellor’s, Rishi Sunak’s, statement made last week regarding the Corona Virus job Retention Scheme.  As a charity, we believe we should qualify in getting support to pay charity staff.  This is being explored with our lawyers at the BUC level for all entities within the Union.

We do not know how long this pandemic will last, neither do we know when the government’s financial provision will become accessible, but we need to take steps to ensure that you, our worker force, are paid on time.  In order for this to happen, we are soliciting your cooperation by adhering to the following:

    1. Cut out all non-essential costs.
    2. Reduce all non-essential travel.  Due to the lockdown and the closure of our churches, we do not expect pastors to be submitting travel budget expenses as done previously.
    3. Equipment allowance should not be utilised until after the coronavirus.
    4. PDA’a also should not be accessed until after the coronavirus.
    5. Cancel all calls / service requests for the foreseeable future.
    6. Cancel all events for the foreseeable future.

As pastors we would ask you to assist the senior members who may not be able to return their tithe electronically but would prefer to send a cheque or make some other arrangement.  Please be available to help them.   It is our hope that together, we will get through this difficult time.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

    Kind regards,

  • Temporary Suspension of Church Services

Announced by Anonymous on Mar 20 2020

Blessings and God's grace to you all in these challenging times

We regret to inform you that we will be suspending church services at our local church venue for the next 4 weeks. This is according to the advice given by the British Union Conference (BUC) and South England Conference (SEC) of Seventh-Day Adventists because of the COVID-19 outbreak. We do understand how disappointing this is, but we value the health and well-being of all our members and visitors. We have links on this site where you can join worship online, and during this period, we'll be updating this site with additional links so that everyone can have various options to choose from.

Be encoraged during this challenging period and don't forget Christ's promise in Hebrews 13:5,6 - "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." Also in Matthew 28:20, Jesus has promised, "...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

Pray for the saints, keep the faith, He who has promised is faithful.

    Be encouraged.

Dear Members and Visitors of the Church
For the next 4 weeks the local churches will have no members attending and no tithes and offerings will be collected. The SEC has made instruments available by which we can still give faithfully to the Lord and keep our church finances healthy.  Please click the following link to watch giving options.
